"Clowns in Waiting for Box Office Gold Crown"
Usa Today 11/20/98
The box-office comedy crown that The Water Boy Adam Sandler wears these days better have an adjustable headband...funnymen Chris Kattan (Saturday Night Live, A Night at the Roxbury) and Chris Tucker (Rush Hour) are in line for box office gold...And Chris Rock (Lethal Weapon 4) and David Spade (Just Shoot Me) are close on their tails....
''Chris Kattan because of his versatility will outlive the other Chrises (Chris Rock and Chris Tucker). I predict he will land a major role in a TV sitcom or a major movie deal, despite the feeble success of Roxbury.'' -- Bill Reynolds, Hollywood, Calif.
"Live! From 'SNL'! It's WebTV!"
Usa Today 5/5/98
NBC announced Monday that Saturday Night Live broadcasts starting this weekend will include interactive information for users of some WebTV set-top boxes or test versions of Windows 98, which includes WebTV for Windows technology...
Viewers with Microsoft's WebTV Plus, the latest version of the set- top box, and users of PCs with TV tuner add-on cards (about $100) and Windows 98 software can access information not available to regular viewers or Web surfers.
SNL viewers will be able to chat with other fans, participate in polls, play games and receive extra information about the host and musical guest.
Saturday's broadcast, for example, lets viewers match ``Weekend Update?? anchors with their sign-off phrases and play a game based on the ``Goth Talk?? sketch with Chris Kattan and Molly Shannon.
Interactive segments are signaled by a transparent icon on the screen; clicking it transfers viewers to a related Web site while letting them keep watching the broadcast, using a picture-in-picture feature...``When you add this layer of interactivity, (fans) feel a stronger connection,?? says Edmond Sanctis of NBC Digital Productions.
