Q & A'Z for the Holidaze:
On ChrisKattan.net, December 2007 - Fans asked, Chris answered
Set #1:
- What movie of yours that's not out yet are you most excited for people to see?
"Undead Or Alive." The cowboy zombie movie I did last year. It’s actually good and lots of fun. BUY IT and laugh and laugh and laugh. But, the movie I just shot, "Tanner Hall" is going to be amazing.
- What is Canine Theater?
It’s an idea I had that MySpace has bought from me. Basically, I am writing and directing a series of shorts where different dogs re-enact real events in the news or parody scenes from
memorable moments in film. Friends as well as me lend their voices to these crazy 3 minute shorts soon to be available on MySpace.
- Have you filmed Life of the Party yet?
No, not yet. It is in development. We have done readings rehearsals and it looks good so far.
- What is your favorite tv show right now?
My favorite tv shows are The Office, Extras and I happen to love the Weather Channel.
- Do you get feedback from your family about your work?
Yes I do. They always like the calm stuff that I do. They think I’m funniest when I’m not trying to be funny.
- What did you like the most about staying in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada while filming Christmas in Wonderland?
I liked the underwater tour of the mall. Alligators, sharks, penguins, jelly fish, real mallrats that live in the halls of the mall, saw them too. That was pretty cool. I also like that big fake dragon that breathes fire at you every 10 minutes in the IMAX theater. I almost peed my pants. Instead I dropped all my Raisinets down my pants.
- Where have you vacationed this year?
Yosemite National Forest in California was the only place I went for vacation. I loved it. The trees are so old and huge. Another world. Gotta go if you haven’t. Other then that, just places in regards to work. Boston. New York. Seattle. But I loved Yosemite. It’s very special.
- When and where's the wedding?
The wedding is planned for June, this summer up in beautiful Yosemite National Park.
- What is Sunshine up to in her career these days?
Sunshine is appearing on the cover of Pacific Magazine and looks amazing. The photo spread inside is incredible. It’s a coastal magazine for San Diego but, I’m sure there are ways to see it without living in San Diego. Try pacificsandiego.com. Sunshine looks amazing. Must get a copy and fast.
- Lots of video with you and Sunshine with shopping bags. Where do you two like to shop?
Anywhere they give you bags to hold items you just bought. Sometimes the bag is the best part of the entire purchase.
Set #2:
- Did you voice Walter Melon because you are you an Aqua Teen Hunger Force fan?
Yes I did. But I never got to hear it. Anybody got a copy I could see?
- Can you give us some details about Bollywood Hero?
It’s a six-episode special that will be premiering big on the cable network, IFC. However, we just got word that due to monsoons and writer strikes we will begin production in India Fall of 2008.
- Are you still recognized for your SNL characters?
Yes. Mango, Roxbury, Peepers, gibberish guy, Antonio Banderas and sex copule with Cheri Oteri.
- You always look so fit. What kind of work-out equipment do you use?
I try to workout 2 to 3 times a week. 1 day of Pilates, 2 days of gym, weights, running, etc. But every so often I get a bit crazy and I rob some department stores in Beverly Hills with my big fake pretend gun. That’s a big workout cause not only do you use your physical skills but also your brain. It’s very good for the heart.
- Do you do your part to be "green"?
Yes I do my part to be green. 90% of my light bulbs in my home are those curly energy sufficient bulbs. They don’t look as good but they definitely do their part. I of course always recycle-paper, tins, plastic, mulch, etc.
- Do you and Sunshine cook at home?
Sunshine and I occasionally cook for each other. She makes great salads and fish, muscles, etc. But when I attempt a type of dinner entrée, I usually cook up what I've been known to be quite the wizard at and that would be ye ol’ fashioned toast. And then add a bit of jelly? Wow, look out America.
- I'd like to know if there is any single movie that has inspired your career?
If there was one movie that inspired me, it probably would be a tie between Raiders of the Lost Ark and "It’s a Gift" with W.C. Fields. One of the funniest movies of all time and it still holds up. No comedian today can get away with the humor of wanting to smack his son for being annoying and be charming about it. Raiders Of The Lost Ark is one of the most entertaining movies. Pure real, honest, fantastic entertainment.
- Is Sunshine goofy and funny like you?
Yes she is. So goofy and yet, so funny.
- Are you always busy and working on something?
Yes. Always. I’m either working or busy doing something like…… like.. … um.. well when I’m working, I’m very busy but when I’m not working I…… I like to eat, drive, exercise and watch 60 Minutes.
- Where's the best place to eat in NYC?
You can’t lose with corner hot dog stands.

- Favorite Peter Sellers movie?
A Shot in the Dark. The second Pink Panther.

- Favorite fashion designers?
Marc Jacobs.
- Do you wear slippers around the house?
I wear dress shoes at home and slippers when I’m "on the town."
- Do you always wear a certain piece of jewelry or a watch?
Ususally my lucky tiara. But, only on special days, like Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
- What's the best movie you've seen this year?
Knocked Up. But, I haven’t seen Juno or Sweeney Todd and I hear great things.
- Just for fun, what prediction do you have for the celebrity of your choice for 2008?
I think Will Smith will come out with another hit movie. A very hot actress will get pregnant. And Sean Penn is gonna get angry at someone but, for the right reasons.
- What is the highlight of the year for you?
Becoming wiser and wanting to learn more as I get older. That and getting row M tickets to The Spice Girls reunion concert.
- Any thought to New Year's resolutions yet?
No more buying pork and dolphin meat.
- What can we look forward to from you in 2008?
A great physique. A new haircut. Brand new jeans and a brand new goldfish cause all of mine keep dying.

No. But I'm glad. By not jumping into the pool and using my awesome powerful diving weapons I like to call "legs" which does include my massive calves, I chose to sit down and watch naked ladies jump into the pool instead. Seriously though, it was only a couple girls that dove in naked. Plus I was in the house the whole time and my friends told me later way after it happened. Great timing, friends.
- Did Santa bring you that Hot Wheels Race Track yet?
Santa came down the chimney, he looked a little beat, I was like his 4 am, so he's already done a lot so far. He gave me like four race tracks. One already opened. Twenty minutes later he comes back through the front door, doesn't even knock, walks in and says, "I made a mistake. Sorry." And takes them all back! Not the most generous, I gotta say.
- I'm a big fan of yours as well as Malcolm Gets and can't wait to see Adam & Steve! How was it working with him?
He was great to work with. Very nice. Everyone one was great to work with. I worked mostly with Parker Posey though who plays my girlfriend in the movie which opens this Spring. I don't think there will be a parade for the movie opening, but if there is. I won't be in it.

- You said in your August journal you met your girlfriend a few months ago, did you two ever meet even briefly on the set of Monkeybone?
We did not. In the movie she played a bathing beauty and I played a dead guy with a broken neck and ripped open stomach, yes, that was special effects, incredible, I know. So if we were to meet, I don't think the "sparks" would be flying that quickly. Unless she was really drunk, then maybe.

My mom's was Kerry Strugs little twin brother Kippy on Update. My dad's was Azrael Abyss, the Prince of Sorrow. He liked it when Molly Shannon and I had a guest on Goth Talk and I would say "Send him in! Send him in! Send him in!"
- I can imagine you as a kid being in parades, have you been in any?
I can't stop being in parades. I just love dancing on floats that move really slowly on the city streets in the early morning. Can't get enough of those flowers. Actually, I have never been in a parade and hope I never have to be. Great question.
